Collaborative Teaching

This section presents a collaborative peer teaching Unit of Learning developed and delivered alongside fellow PME student and artist Erin Dowd. Drawing from our shared background in Fine Art Painting at NCAD, we designed and facilitated a practical painting workshop for our peers and tutor, Brenda O'Reilly, exploring colour harmony, observational painting, and creative experimentation through the theme Mother.

The experience strengthened my understanding of collaborative planning, co teaching, communication, and reflective practice within Art education. Through shared demonstration, discussion, visual resources, and active methodologies, we aimed to create an engaging and supportive studio environment that encouraged participation, confidence, and creative risk taking. The workshop also reinforced the value of collaborative learning within Art education and the importance of creating spaces where both teachers and students can learn from one another through making, reflection, and discussion.
